How to use incense sticks

How to light your sticks

To burn incense sticks simply light the end of the stick and let it burn for a few seconds then blow out the flame and let the stick smoulder. Be sure to keep the area well-ventilated and out of reach of children or animals that could knock it over. Also make sure you have a ceramic bowl/tray to catch the falling ash. Do not have on a flammable surface.

Never leave incense burning unattended, and be sure to put out the flame before you go to bed.

How to burn your sticks

For best practice we recommend an incense stick holder as they are made to catch the ash but remember to remove your stick before it burns all the way to the end (leave 1cm) as your stick can get stuck in your holder and unable to be removed. You can also lean your stick over a bowl or any other such way but keep within sight at all times.

How to distinguish

Take your stick out of the holder and 'stub' it out on a non-flammable surface and lay stick down when not in use. You an also 'nip' it out with your fingers. Keep an eye on it to make sure you have extinguished completely.

How long does it burn for?

A typical stick will burn for 25-40 minutes, depending on its thickness as well as length. The aroma can help create a relaxing atmosphere and provide some health benefits. So take a few deep breaths and relax!

Make sure your sticks are stored properly so they don't get damp or mouldy. This can cause your sticks not to light or an unpleasant smell and a lot of smoke.
